Broad St, Richmond, VA 23294 (804) 270-2250 By Chris Bryan The Hobby Town USA on Broad street in Richmond Virginia has the atmosphere of a small mom and pop shop of years gone. This is not what you would expect from a large chain franchise, but I believe that is what makes them survivable in this climate. About once a month several of us get together from the local IPMS club as well as the local AMPS club which several of us are members of both, and we have a build day at hobby town. We usually arrive about 10 in the morning and some will stay until 4 or 5 that afternoon. The management at hobby town allows us to set up in the back of the store which we refer to as paradise because thats where all the armor kits are. During the day we interact with customers do demos and just generally have a good time hanging out and building. The staff at Hobby town is uber-friendly with us and pretty much caters to whatever we need, that may have something to do with the fact that we are almost guaranteed to spend some hard earned model money. Besides being a haven for armor geeks they have a great selection of r.c. as well as other model kits including cars and those flying thingies that tread heads refer to as targets. I will go out of my way to shop at this hobby town due to a overwhelming good experience every time I have been in there. |
